Book Report Checklist


The following is included in the first paragraph: title (underlined), author and type of book.

2nd paragraph should have 5-10 sentences telling about the book.

3rd paragraph should have 3-10 sentences telling an interesting part in the book.

Penmanship should be neat and errors crossed out neatly.

Each paragraph should be indented.

Several transition words should be used (first, next, last, finally, etc.)

Long and short sentences should both be used.

Beginnings of sentences should be varied.

Sentences should not begin with and, but, or so.

Use a dictionary and thesaurus to find the best words for nouns or verbs used often.

Correct spelling.

Check for sentence fragments or run-on's

Check punctuation.

Check capitalization.

Check subject/verb agreement

Tip: Try not to use contractions or abbreviations.
